okay boys and girls...it's time for the breakdown...
The SAT: sucked, of course, but definitely not as bad as i expected...i thought it was almost easy...and now i'm scared shitless that i failed...oh well, i'll know soon enough, right?
Lunch With Courtney: wonderful, as always...Panera Bread + Smoothie King + HEB = Good times...
The Movies:
The Last Kiss: wonderful. awesome. of course it would be, because it stars Zach Braff and its from the writer of Million Dollar Baby and the Co-Writer of Crash...didn't think it would be as dramatic as it was, but it was still a wonderful movie and the soundtrack was amazing...of course i already knew that, thanks to one Charlie DiBlasi, but it helped to hear the songs actually in the movie. Blythe Danner was a nice touch too...i didn't know she was in it...
Crash: you know, i didn't think it really deserved the Best Picture Oscar, but now, having seen Brokeback Mountain AND Crash...Crash won hands down. this movie was so amazing and it brought me into a world that i don't really ever experience. I guess i live a sheltered life or something...but it made things real. It was the polar opposite of what may be my favorite movie of all time (Love Actually), but it worked...and it made you think, especially when you find yourself laughing and you know you shouldn't. It scared me thinking about what this world was coming to because of the life i lead and who i associate with. It deserved the Oscar, hands down, no more arguments.
The Quiet: so much better than i expected. Camilla Belle is a wonderful rising young actress who has many great films ahead of her. i have admired her for many years, and when she jumped back on the radar with When A Stranger Calls, i was excited, even though the movie wasn't the best i've ever seen. But I have to say The Quiet was her breakthrough role. playing a role like that has to be hard, i mean even just understanding the psychological complexities of any of the main characters in the film is tough, but no character is more complicated than Dot. Dot's problems, though when looked at with the untrained eye seem trivial, but really are so complicated that no one is able to understand them fully even by the end of the movie. But she portrayed it well. all of the characters were very well cast, even, surprisingly enough, Shawn Ashmore (Iceman from X-Men), a person who i don't think has ever seen taken on a role so complicated before. Also, Elisha Cuthbert has now proven to me that she really can act a character with true flaws other than beauties in romantic comedies which she normally is cast as. all in all, the movie was wonderful and i would highly recommend it for anyone who is looking for a nice thriller to sit back and watch. but, to quote trace, "i wouldn't watch it with your parents. you have been warned".
i skipped Talladega Nights in favor of going out to dinner with my uncle, cause he called and was in town and wanted to go out with the family, who is all out of town for the moment...so we went for chinese food at a place down the street and ate the slimiest chicken i've ever seen (it was gross, i'm telling you).
Right now i'm a bit tired, but Daniel won't be home til like midnight so i'm stuck waiting up for him because of course he doesn't have his key or his phone. i honestly don't understand why he has a phone if it never leaves the house. isn't that what a cell phone's for? to leave the house with? whatever...i have a phone too...i bring it with me everywhere, my brother's phone woes are not my problem, except when i need to reach him.
Anyways, i'm out...maybe reading a book and blasting music really loud will keep me awake better...
love,
-Caitlin
